The Radical Transformation of Traditional Representation

In a Parisian studio, where the air was filled with the scent of paint and oil, Picasso stood before a canvas that was destined to be revolutionary. He worked on it for more than nine months, returning to it repeatedly to capture his vision. Before him emerged the figures of five women who were to forever change the perception of art. The immediate reaction was mixed. Many contemporaries did not understand what Picasso had created, and the work remained out of public view for several years. However, Les Demoiselles d'Avignon eventually inspired an entire generation of artists, including Georges Braque, who soon developed Cubism with Picasso. The painting became a symbol of modernism and remains one of the most influential works of the 20th century, changing the perception of artistic creation.
