In October 1905, the doors of the Salon d'Automne opened at the Grand Palais in Paris, where a traditional display of artworks was anticipated. However, visitors were stunned as they entered the hall dominated by paintings full of vibrant colors and bold brushstrokes. Young artists like Henri Matisse and André Derain exhibited works that defied all previous norms.
