On a hot Egyptian day around 1355 BC, sculptor Thutmose focused on his work in the silence of the Amarna workshop. Before him stood the unfinished bust of Queen Nefertiti, meant to embody the ideal of beauty and nobility. Akhenaten, the pharaoh and husband of Nefertiti, wished for his queen to be depicted in all her beauty, and Thutmose was tasked with transferring this ideal into stone.

Thutmose used a limestone base, applying layers of plaster to achieve fine details and smooth lines. He worked meticulously, each stroke of his tool was deliberate. The result was a bust that became a model for portrait art of its time. Its elegant crown and delicate features were unusual and bold, reflecting the new artistic style that developed under Akhenaten's rule.

After its discovery in 1912, the bust of Queen Nefertiti captivated the world with its timeless beauty. It became a symbol of ancient Egyptian art and drew attention to the Amarna period, which had long been overlooked. Today, the bust is exhibited in Berlin, where it continues to fascinate visitors and reminds us of the mastery of ancient Egyptian sculptors.
