Tragic Ride in an Open Car

On Friday, November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was riding through the streets of Dallas in an open car. The sunny day attracted many people along the route, who enthusiastically waved to their charismatic leader. Kennedy was on his way to the Texas Trade Mart, where he was scheduled to deliver a speech. The trip was part of his political campaign ahead of the upcoming elections, in which he hoped to gain support for another presidential term.

As the presidential limousine approached Dealey Plaza, three shots rang out. Kennedy was hit in the neck and head. He was immediately taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where doctors fought for his life. At 1:00 PM, he was officially pronounced dead. The arrest of Lee Harvey Oswald, the alleged shooter, led to further confusion when he was shot dead by Jack Ruby two days later.

Kennedy's death was a profound shock to the United States and the entire world. His successor, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, was immediately sworn in on board Air Force One. The assassination affected not only the political scene but also the public's trust in state institutions. Despite the official conclusions of the Warren Commission that Oswald acted alone, the circumstances of the assassination remain the subject of speculation and conspiracy theories to this day.
